Marilyn Kepple’s artwork depicts aspects of life in Far North Queensland. Her works include significant geographic sites, local bush foods, native animals and traditional implements for gathering. As a child Marilyn lived in remote areas that are abundant with bush foods and her work recalls collecting with her grandmother.

Marilyn was born in Cairns and grew up in Coen. She has a Diploma in Aboriginal Art from Cairns TAFE and her preferred mediums are acrylic on canvas and lino-printing, that tell personal stories of important landscape and animal totems.

She was part of a group of women who participated in a pilot project, initiated by the Tanks Arts Centre and supported by Arts Queensland’s Backing Indigenous Arts Program, and the exhibition features works by Marilyn Kepple and others. In 1998 she attended Studio One in Canberra for an intensive workshop in Printmaking under the instruction of Theo Tremblay.
